Beyoncé voices Nala in the 2019 film The Lion King.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated film. Nala is a lioness who grows up alongside Simba and later helps encourage him to return to Pride Rock.
Donald Glover voices Simba, while James Earl Jones reprises his role as Mufasa. Chiwetel Ejiofor voices Scar, Alfre Woodard voices Sarabi, and Seth Rogen voices Pumbaa. Beyoncé also contributed original music to the film’s companion album The Lion King: The Gift.
Nala is sometimes confused with Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter in The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride. Kiara does not appear as the adult daughter in the 2019 remake. Beyoncé’s performance and the film’s soundtrack helped connect the remake with a new generation of viewers.
