Answer
Next Gen car
Answer
Next Gen car
The current NASCAR Cup Series car introduced in 2022 is called the Next Gen car. It is NASCAR's seventh-generation Cup car and succeeded the Generation 6 car used from 2013 through 2021.
NASCAR developed the Next Gen to reduce team costs, improve racing technology, and make the cars more visually similar to modern production vehicles. Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota each fielded manufacturer-specific body designs on a shared chassis. The car also introduced features such as independent rear suspension, a sequential five-speed transmission, and a single center-locking lug nut.
The Next Gen was originally targeted for an earlier debut, but the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted testing and pushed its rollout to 2022. It made its points-race debut in the 2022 Daytona 500, won by Austin Cindric. “Gen 4,” “Car of Tomorrow,” and “Generation 6” are names of earlier NASCAR eras, not the current design.
