What is the name of the currency in Splatoon?

The story behind the answer

The name commonly used for Splatoon’s in-game currency is cash. Players earn it through multiplayer activities and spend it in Inkopolis shops on weapons, clothing, headgear, shoes, and other gear-related purchases.

Cash gives Splatoon’s competitive matches a progression layer beyond winning or losing. Battles provide money and experience, allowing players to expand their equipment choices as they level up. Gear can also carry abilities that affect gameplay, such as movement, ink efficiency, or respawn-related bonuses.

Cash is easy to confuse with other collectible or mode-specific currencies in the series. For example, Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion uses CQ Points, while Splatoon 3: Side Order features Membux and later converts some rewards into Prlz. Pearls, shells, and coins may appear as objects or rewards, but they are not the standard currency used for everyday Splatoon shopping.
