The titanium credit card introduced by Apple in 2019 is the Apple Card.
Apple announced Apple Card on March 25, 2019, and released it to U.S. customers on August 20, 2019. The product combines a digital card in Apple’s Wallet app with a physical card intended for places that do not accept Apple Pay.
The physical version is made primarily of titanium and has a distinctive minimalist design: its card number, expiration date, and CVV are not printed on the card. Those details are available digitally, reducing the amount of payment information displayed if the card is viewed or photographed.
“Apple Pay Card” is a common mix-up, but Apple Pay is the company’s digital-wallet and contactless-payment service, not the name of this credit-card account. The Apple Card itself operates through the Mastercard payment network; the titanium physical card is only one way to use the account, alongside the Wallet-based digital version.
