What is the name of the continent where Fire Emblem: Three Houses takes place?

The story behind the answer

The continent where Fire Emblem: Three Houses takes place is Fódlan. It is the central setting for the game's political conflicts, religious history, character relationships, and branching story routes.

Fódlan is divided among three major powers: the Adrestian Empire in the south, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus in the north, and the Leicester Alliance in the east. Garreg Mach Monastery sits near the continent's center and houses both the Church of Seiros and the Officers Academy. Students from all three powers train there, which brings the game's future leaders together before the story's major upheaval.

Fódlan is sometimes confused with other Fire Emblem continents. Ylisse is the setting associated with Fire Emblem Awakening, Valentia is the world of Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, and Elibe is the setting of The Binding Blade and The Blazing Blade. The name Fódlan remains correct even though later story chapters move across different regions and present several competing perspectives on its history.
