What is the name of the city where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles primarily live?

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles primarily live in New York City.

Across most versions of the franchise, the turtles make their home in the city’s sewer system under the guidance of Splinter. New York provides the urban setting for their battles with the Foot Clan, encounters with criminals, and attempts to remain hidden from the public.

The exact design of the city varies by adaptation. The comics, films, and animated series use different neighborhoods, landmarks, and visual styles, but New York remains the franchise’s central home. Some stories later take the characters to other dimensions, countries, or fictional locations.

Gotham City is a common wrong answer because it is the home of Batman, another comic-book vigilante associated with dark urban settings. Los Angeles and Chicago have appeared in other media stories but are not the Turtles’ primary hometown.
