The circuit that hosts the Belgian Grand Prix is Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. It is located near Stavelot in Belgium’s Ardennes region and is one of Formula One’s most historic venues.

The original circuit opened in 1921 and used public roads connecting Francorchamps, Malmedy and Stavelot. That triangular layout measured about 14.9 kilometres, far longer than the modern track. The circuit was substantially redesigned for safety, with the current permanent layout introduced in 1979.

Today’s version is approximately 7.004 kilometres long, making it one of the longest circuits on the Formula One calendar. Its famous sequence through Eau Rouge and Raidillon, fast corners and frequent weather changes have made it a favourite among drivers and fans.

Spa hosted the first Belgian World Championship Grand Prix in 1950, but it has not been the country’s only venue. Belgian Grands Prix have also been held at Zolder and Nivelles-Baulers. Thus, Spa-Francorchamps is the modern and best-known answer, rather than a permanent historical synonym for every Belgian Grand Prix.
