What is the name of the Cars spin-off short-film series starring Mater?

The Cars spin-off short-film series starring Mater is called Mater’s Tall Tales.

Mater’s Tall Tales is a series of animated shorts produced by Pixar and set in the Cars universe. Each short features Mater telling an extravagant story about his past, often claiming that he was a famous racer, stunt performer, firefighter, or participant in another unlikely adventure.

The recurring joke is that Mater insists the stories are true, while the events are presented in increasingly absurd ways. Lightning McQueen usually appears as Mater’s friend and listener, and the shorts use the established personalities of both characters for quick comic storytelling.

The series is also associated with the broader Cars Toons branding. It is not the same as a feature film and should not be confused with the Disney+ series Cars on the Road, which follows Lightning and Mater on a longer road-trip format.
