The Carlos Santana album released in 2002 is Shaman. It was released on October 22, 2002, as Santana's nineteenth studio album and followed the enormous commercial success of Supernatural.
Shaman continued Santana's collaboration-heavy approach, bringing together the guitarist's Latin-rock style with guest performers from pop, rock, and contemporary music. Its first major single, “The Game of Love,” featured Michelle Branch and became a Top 10 hit in the United States. Another prominent track, “Why Don't You & I,” was associated with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback and was later re-recorded with Alex Band.
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was later certified double platinum in the United States. Listeners sometimes confuse Shaman with Supernatural because both albums feature many guest vocalists and arrived during Santana's late-career commercial resurgence. However, Supernatural was released in 1999, while Shaman is the clearly identifiable 2002 album.
