What is the name of the brightest ring of Jupiter?

The story behind the answer

Jupiter’s brightest ring is the main ring. It is a narrow, relatively thin band made largely of dust and small particles, positioned outside the planet’s inner halo ring.

The main ring is part of a faint four-part system that also includes the halo ring and the Amalthea and Thebe gossamer rings. Although Saturn’s rings are famous for their icy brilliance, Jupiter’s rings are much darker and harder to see. Their particles reflect little sunlight, and the rings are best detected in forward-scattered light or by spacecraft imaging.

Voyager 1 discovered Jupiter’s ring system on March 4, 1979. The main ring’s outer edge lies near the orbit of Adrastea, one of Jupiter’s small inner moons, while its inner region blends gradually into the halo. Thebe ring and Amalthea ring are named for moons associated with them, but neither is as bright as the main ring. The halo is vertically thicker, yet its surface brightness is lower.
