The band Krist Novoselic formed after Nirvana was Sweet 75.
Novoselic co-formed Sweet 75 with Venezuelan-born singer and musician Yva Las Vegass after Nirvana ended following Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994. The project began partly through Novoselic’s interest in helping Las Vegass record music, but their songwriting collaboration developed into a band. The name Sweet 75 came from a poem by Theodore Roethke.
Sweet 75 signed with DGC Records and released its self-titled album in 1997. The record blended alternative rock with elements of heavy rock, lounge, country, and Latin-influenced music. Several drummers passed through the lineup, including Bill Rieflin and Adam Wade.
The band did not become a long-term successor to Nirvana: it split and re-formed during the late 1990s before finally ending around 2000. Novoselic later played in projects including No WTO Combo and Eyes Adrift, but Sweet 75 was his first major post-Nirvana band.
