What is the name of the Assassin's Creed Rogue protagonist who leaves the Brotherhood?

The story behind the answer

Shay Cormac is the Assassin's Creed Rogue protagonist who leaves the Brotherhood.

Shay Patrick Cormac begins the game as an Assassin operating in the North Atlantic during the eighteenth century. After a disastrous mission and a growing disagreement with Assassin methods, he defects and joins the Templars. Rogue therefore reverses the usual viewpoint by making a former Assassin the central character in a Templar campaign.

The game was released in 2014 and takes place during the Seven Years' War. Shay travels through the North Atlantic, the River Valley, and New York, using the Morrigan, an armed sailing ship adapted for icy waters.

Shay is not Liam O'Brien, although Liam is an Assassin and one of Shay's former comrades. Arno Dorian belongs to Unity, and Jacob Frye belongs to Syndicate. Rogue also connects narratively with Assassin's Creed III and Unity.
