What is the name of the Assassin's Creed protagonist who leads the story in Origins?

The story behind the answer

Bayek of Siwa leads the historical story in Assassin's Creed Origins.

Bayek is a Medjay, a traditional protector and lawkeeper in ancient Egypt. The game follows his investigation into the deaths of his son and other members of his family, an experience that draws him into a wider struggle against a secret organization seeking influence in Egypt.

Origins is set during the first century BCE, during the reign of Cleopatra VII and the Roman intervention led by Julius Caesar. Bayek's journey with his wife, Aya, helps establish the ideas and organization that later become the Hidden Ones, the precursor to the Assassin Brotherhood.

Bayek is sometimes confused with Aya because both are playable and central to the narrative. He is also distinct from Kassandra and Alexios, the selectable protagonists of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Origins is particularly important in the franchise because it combines the series' historical stealth foundation with a large role-playing-game world and level-based combat.
