What is the name of the ancient supercontinent that existed before Pangaea and formed about 1.1 billion years ago?

The story behind the answer

Rodinia was an ancient supercontinent that formed about 1.1 billion years ago, long before Pangaea.

Rodinia assembled during the Neoproterozoic Era, probably between about 1.3 and 0.9 billion years ago. Its exact arrangement remains debated because later tectonic activity fragmented and rearranged its component continents, leaving scientists to reconstruct it from paleomagnetic data and matching rock belts.

Rodinia began breaking apart roughly 750 million years ago. The breakup may have influenced ocean circulation, atmospheric conditions, and the distribution of continental ice during the Cryogenian Period, although the links between tectonics and climate remain an active research subject.

Rodinia is not simply an earlier name for Pangaea. Pangaea assembled much later, around 335 million years ago. Other proposed early supercontinents include Nuna, also called Columbia, and Kenorland, whose boundaries and histories are reconstructed with varying confidence.
