What is the name of the album that features the song "Who Wants to Live Forever"?

The story behind the answer

The song “Who Wants to Live Forever” appears on Queen’s 1986 album A Kind of Magic. It is the album’s sixth track and one of its best-known dramatic songs.

Brian May wrote the power ballad for the fantasy film Highlander, whose story explores immortality, love and loss. Queen recorded the song for the film and then included it on A Kind of Magic, an album whose material was partly connected to Highlander. Another track from the album, “Princes of the Universe,” became the film’s main theme.

The recording combines Freddie Mercury’s expressive lead vocal with Brian May’s vocals, guitar and synthesiser work. Film composer Michael Kamen arranged and conducted the orchestra, giving the song its large, cinematic sound. The album version runs longer than the familiar single edit, while later compilations also used shortened versions.

A common mix-up is confusing the song’s original album with a soundtrack release. Although “Who Wants to Live Forever” was created for Highlander, A Kind of Magic is the Queen studio album on which the track appears. The album was released on 2 June 1986 and became Queen’s twelfth studio album.
