What is the name of the 18th hole at Carnoustie?

Answer
Home
The 18th hole at Carnoustie is named Home.
Home is the closing hole of Carnoustie’s Championship Course in Angus, Scotland. It is a par-four finishing hole that brings players back toward the clubhouse after a demanding journey through the links. The Barry Burn is a defining hazard around the closing stretch, crossing the course near the 18th and making a safe-looking finish capable of producing dramatic mistakes.
The hole’s name is easy to confuse with nearby Carnoustie names. The 17th is Island, the 16th is Barry Burn, and the 14th is Spectacles. Burn is therefore associated with the closing holes, but it is not the name of the 18th.
Carnoustie has hosted The Open eight times, most recently in 2018. The 18th became especially famous during the 1999 Open, when Jean van de Velde’s collapse at the last allowed Paul Lawrie to win after a play-off. In 2018, Francesco Molinari secured the championship with a composed final round, again showing why the closing hole can define an Open.
