Subway’s Italian-style sandwich featuring salami, pepperoni, and ham is the B.M.T.
The initials originally referred to “Biggest, Meatiest, Tastiest,” a marketing expansion used by Subway. The sandwich combines several cured and processed meats and is commonly served with cheese, vegetables, and condiments selected by the customer.
The B.M.T. is part of Subway’s long-running submarine-sandwich menu. Subway began in 1965 as Pete’s Super Submarines in Bridgeport, Connecticut, founded by Fred DeLuca with financial support from Peter Buck.
Menu names and ingredients can vary by country, so local versions may use different bread, cheese, or seasoning options. The core identity of the B.M.T., however, is its combination of salami, pepperoni, and ham. It should not be confused with Subway’s Cold Cut Combo, which uses a different meat selection.
