Spotify’s feature that lets users see lyrics while listening is called Lyrics.
The feature displays a song’s words in the Spotify app as the track plays, with the currently sung line highlighted or scrolled into view. Lyrics are generally supplied through Spotify’s partnership with Musixmatch, which licenses and synchronizes lyrics for songs in its catalog.
Spotify began expanding in-app lyrics globally in 2021 after testing the feature in several markets. Availability can vary by song, country, device, and licensing agreement, so not every track necessarily includes lyrics. This sometimes causes confusion: Lyrics is the name of the feature, while “synced lyrics” describes how the text follows the music.
The feature is separate from Spotify’s karaoke-style tools and from lyric-search services such as SongText. Users can usually open it from the Now Playing screen by swiping upward or selecting the lyrics panel.
