What is the name of Rihanna's first album?
Answer
"Music of the Sun"
Answer
"Music of the Sun"
Rihanna's first album was Music of the Sun.
Released on August 29, 2005, by Def Jam Recordings, Music of the Sun introduced Rihanna as a Barbadian singer with a sound rooted in dancehall, reggae, R&B, soca, and dance-pop. Its Caribbean influence reflected her upbringing in Barbados and helped distinguish her from many contemporary American pop acts.
The album grew out of demo recordings Rihanna made with producers Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers in Barbados. One of those demos included "Pon de Replay," which caught the attention of Def Jam executives Jay-Z and L.A. Reid. Rihanna auditioned for the label and was signed soon afterward. "Pon de Replay" became the album's biggest hit, reaching number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
A common mix-up is A Girl Like Me, which was Rihanna's second studio album, released in 2006. Music of the Sun reached number ten on the Billboard 200 and was later certified Platinum in the United States.
