Oakley’s lens technology that enhances contrast is called Prizm.
Prizm is a family of Oakley lens technologies designed to tune the light reaching the eye, particularly selected wavelengths associated with color perception. By manipulating the spectral balance rather than simply making a lens darker, Prizm is intended to make colors and visual details stand out more clearly in particular environments.
Oakley offers Prizm variants for activities such as road cycling, golf, trail sports, snow sports and everyday use. Each is developed with a specific visual setting in mind, so Prizm Road, Prizm Golf and Prizm Snow are not interchangeable labels for exactly the same optical target.
Prizm is often confused with polarization, but the technologies serve different purposes. Polarized lenses primarily reduce reflected glare, while Prizm focuses on color and contrast enhancement; a lens can combine both features. Mirror coatings and photochromic lenses likewise describe different treatments or behaviors, not Oakley’s contrast-enhancement system.
