Facebook launched Ray-Ban Stories on September 9, 2021, in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, Ray-Ban’s parent company. The glasses combined conventional Ray-Ban styles with miniature cameras, speakers, microphones, a touchpad, and a charging case.

The first generation came in two main styles: Wayfarer and Round, with Skyler also listed in product coverage. Users could capture photographs and short videos, listen to audio, and make calls without holding a phone. A front-facing LED indicated when the cameras were recording.
