What is the name of McDonald's plant-based burger platform created with Beyond Meat?

The story behind the answer

What is the name of McDonald's plant-based burger platform created with Beyond Meat? It is called McPlant.

McPlant is McDonald's branded platform for plant-based menu items, beginning with a meat-free burger whose patty was co-developed with Beyond Meat. The name refers to a broader product concept rather than only one fixed recipe, since McDonald's has also explored plant-based chicken and other alternatives under the platform.

The burger was tested in selected markets in 2021 and launched across the United Kingdom and Ireland in January 2022. Its patty uses plant ingredients such as peas, rice, and potatoes. In those markets, the sandwich was made vegan with a plant-based cheese alternative and vegan sauce.

McPlant is often confused with McVeggie, a separate McDonald's vegetarian product used in some countries. It is also not the Impossible Whopper, which is Burger King's competing product made with Impossible Foods. Availability and ingredients vary by country, so “plant-based” does not automatically mean every version is vegan.
