Lightning McQueen’s transporter in Pixar’s Cars is named Mack.
Mack is a red truck who carries Lightning between races and serves as his support vehicle. He is a Mack Super-Liner, giving the character his name and distinctive heavy-duty appearance. At the start of the film, Mack is responsible for transporting Lightning toward the Piston Cup finale in California.
Mack accidentally falls asleep during a nighttime drive, allowing Lightning to tumble out of the trailer. That mistake separates Lightning from his racing team and begins the chain of events that leads him to Radiator Springs. Mack is sometimes confused with Mater because both are important companions, but Mater is the rusty tow truck Lightning meets in town. Mack remains primarily Lightning’s transporter and road companion rather than a resident of Radiator Springs.
