What is the name of Le Corbusier's house for his parents in Vevey, Switzerland?

The story behind the answer

The house Le Corbusier designed for his parents in Vevey, Switzerland, is Villa Le Lac.

Designed with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret between 1923 and 1924, the compact home stands in Corseaux on the shore of Lake Geneva, near Vevey. Le Corbusier’s parents moved in on Christmas Eve 1924. The building was planned for two older residents without servants, which helps explain its small, highly efficient layout.

Villa Le Lac is an important early example of Le Corbusier’s modernist domestic architecture. Its 64-square-metre plan includes a long horizontal window, a free plan and a roof terrace—three of his later-famous Five Points of Architecture. The 11-metre ribbon window was especially ambitious for the technology available at the time.

A common mix-up is Villa Jeanneret-Perret, another house Le Corbusier designed for his parents, but that earlier residence is in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Villa Le Lac is the lakeside home in Corseaux and joined the UNESCO-listed Architectural Work of Le Corbusier in 2016.
