J.K. Rowling’s 2012 interactive Harry Potter website was called Pottermore.
Pottermore launched in 2012 as an official digital experience built around the Harry Potter books. Rowling contributed new writing and background material, while users could explore selected moments from the stories, be sorted into a Hogwarts house, and receive a wand. The site combined reading content with interactive features and community participation.
In 2019, Pottermore Publishing was created as the digital publishing division associated with the site. In 2019, the website itself was reworked and renamed WizardingWorld.com, which is why both names appear in discussions of the official online Harry Potter platform.
Pottermore should not be confused with fan sites such as The Leaky Cauldron. It was an official project connected to Rowling and her intellectual property. The name also differs from Rowling’s later personal website, which she used for author news and selected personal or professional information.
