What is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s novel about a boy and a Christmas pig?

The Christmas Pig is the title of J.K. Rowling’s 2021 children’s novel about a boy and a Christmas pig.

Published on 12 October 2021, The Christmas Pig follows Jack, a young boy whose beloved toy pig, Dur Pig, is lost on Christmas Eve. A replacement toy, the Christmas Pig, helps Jack enter a fantastical world in search of his missing companion. The story combines a child’s attachment to a toy with an imaginative quest.

The book was Rowling’s first children’s novel published after the Harry Potter series and was released simultaneously in several countries. Jim Field illustrated the edition, adding visual elements to the story’s toy-filled world.

The title can be confused with holiday stories involving talking animals or Christmas toys, but The Christmas Pig is specifically Rowling’s standalone novel about Jack, Dur Pig, and the replacement Christmas Pig. It is not part of the Harry Potter universe.
