What is the name of Italy's high-speed train operated by Trenitalia?
Answer
Frecciarossa
Answer
Frecciarossa
Italy’s high-speed train operated by Trenitalia is Frecciarossa.
The name means “Red Arrow” in Italian and identifies Trenitalia’s fastest principal passenger service. The brand was introduced in 2008, replacing the earlier Eurostar Italia branding for the company’s premium high-speed trains. Frecciarossa services use Italy’s dedicated high-speed lines and can operate at up to 300 km/h.
Frecciarossa is part of Le Frecce, Trenitalia’s wider family of arrow-branded services. That umbrella also includes Frecciargento and Frecciabianca, which are generally slower or serve routes with different infrastructure. Italo is a competing private operator, not a Trenitalia brand.
The service links major Italian cities including Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples and Salerno. Frecciarossa trains also run internationally on routes between Italy and France, making the name familiar beyond Italy’s domestic rail network.
