Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric-vehicle platform is called E-GMP, short for Electric-Global Modular Platform.
Hyundai Motor Group introduced E-GMP for battery-electric models from Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis. The architecture places the battery low in the floor and supports rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive layouts, giving designers flexibility across several vehicle sizes.
Its 800-volt electrical system enables high-power charging on compatible stations. Hyundai has stated that some E-GMP vehicles can charge from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes under suitable conditions.
E-GMP is different from MEB, Volkswagen Group’s modular platform for electric cars, and from Ultium, General Motors’ battery and vehicle technology family. Models associated with E-GMP include the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60.
