Gru’s twin brother introduced in Despicable Me 3 is Dru. Dru is Gru’s long-lost twin, a cheerful and wealthy man who lives in the fictional country of Freedonia and invites Gru’s family to visit him.
Unlike Gru, Dru has blond hair, wears mostly white clothing, and is enthusiastic about becoming a supervillain. He reveals that their father, Robert Gru, was a notorious criminal known as the Bald Terror. The family’s wealth came from their father’s villainous activities and technological inventions.
Dru asks Gru to teach him how to commit crimes, but the brothers quickly clash because Gru has reformed and secretly intends to use their diamond theft to regain his position with the Anti-Villain League. They eventually cooperate against Balthazar Bratt, the film’s main villain. A frequent mix-up is “Felonious,” which is Gru’s first name, not Dru’s; Otto and Dave are Minion characters.
