What is the name of Google's open-source container orchestration system?
Answer
Kubernetes
Answer
Kubernetes
Google’s open-source container orchestration system is Kubernetes.
Kubernetes automates the deployment, scaling, networking, and management of applications packaged in containers. Google originally designed the project, drawing heavily on lessons from its internal Borg cluster-management system. The name comes from an Ancient Greek word associated with a helmsman or governor.
Google announced Kubernetes in June 2014 and released version 1.0 on July 21, 2015. Google then worked with the Linux Foundation to establish the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, donating Kubernetes as its seed technology. The CNCF and a worldwide contributor community now oversee the project.
Kubernetes is often abbreviated as K8s: the “K” is followed by eight letters and then “s.” Docker creates and runs containers, while Kubernetes coordinates containers across clusters of machines. OpenStack is primarily a cloud infrastructure platform, and Apache Mesos is a separate cluster-management system.
