What is the name of Google's news aggregator service?

The story behind the answer

Google’s news aggregator service is Google News.

Google News collects links to reporting from many publishers and organizes them into continuously updated sections and topic clusters. Rather than being a single newspaper, it acts as a discovery service that helps readers compare coverage from different outlets and follow developing stories.

The project began as a beta service in September 2002, and its early concept was developed by Google engineer Krishna Bharat. Google officially introduced the service in January 2006. It is available on the web and through Android and iOS apps, with personalization based on topics, locations, interests, and publishers.

Google Search can also display news results, but Search is the broader web-search product. Google Trends measures search interest, while Google Alerts sends notifications about selected terms. Those services may help users find information, but Google News is the dedicated news-aggregation product.
