What is the name of Google's language translation service?
Answer
Google Translate
Answer
Google Translate
Google's language translation service is Google Translate. It is a machine-translation service that converts text, speech, documents, websites, and text captured in images between supported languages.
Google launched the service on April 28, 2006, using statistical machine translation. Early versions learned from large collections of previously translated material, including United Nations and European Parliament documents. Rather than relying mainly on hand-written grammar rules, the system identified patterns and predicted likely translations from its data.
In November 2016, Google began moving Translate to Google Neural Machine Translation, which used neural networks to process whole sentences with more surrounding context. That approach generally improved fluency, although quality still varies by language pair, subject, dialect, and the ambiguity of the original wording. Machine translation is therefore useful but not automatically equivalent to a professional human translation.
Google Translate is often confused with Microsoft Translator, DeepL, or older services such as Babylon. It is also more than a web page: Google offers Android and iOS apps, browser integration, offline features for some languages, speech tools, and developer access through translation APIs.
