What is the name of Gibbs' amphibious all-terrain vehicle?
Answer
Quadski
Answer
Quadski
Gibbs’ amphibious all-terrain vehicle is called the Quadski.
The Gibbs Quadski is an amphibious quad bike that converts into a personal watercraft. Gibbs Sports Amphibians launched it in October 2012, adapting the company’s high-speed amphibian technology for a much smaller vehicle than its Aquada car or Humdinga amphibious truck.
A button retracts the Quadski’s wheels into the body and disconnects them from the drivetrain for water travel. In that mode, a marine jet propulsion system draws in water and expels it through a nozzle; steering is controlled through the handlebars and the rear jet nozzle. The vehicle can reach about 72 km/h on both land and water.
The Quadski is often confused with Gibbs’ other concepts. The Aquada is a fast amphibious car, while the Humdinga is a larger amphibious truck. Production took place in Michigan and ended in 2016, after roughly 1,000 Quadskis had been made, so the name refers to a specific Gibbs model rather than a general class of amphibious ATV.
