Ezio Auditore’s home city in Assassin’s Creed II is Florence. Ezio begins his story there as a young Florentine before the murder of his father and brothers sends him toward the Assassin Brotherhood.
Florence provides the opening urban setting for the game and reflects the city’s importance during the Italian Renaissance. Players visit recognizable landmarks and encounter historical figures connected with the period, including Leonardo da Vinci. Ezio later travels beyond Florence to places such as Monteriggioni, Venice, and Rome.
Venice is another major Assassin’s Creed II location, which can cause confusion because much of the game also takes place there. Rome becomes especially important in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, while Milan appears only in a more limited role in the wider series. Florence is Ezio’s starting city and family home.
