Answer
Harry Morgan
What is the name of Dexter's adopted father? Dexter's adopted father is Harry Morgan.
Harry is a highly respected Miami police homicide detective who adopts Dexter after rescuing him from the scene of his mother's murder. Dexter was three years old when Harry found him in a shipping container, traumatized after witnessing Laura Moser's death. Harry later raises Dexter alongside his biological daughter, Debra.
Harry recognizes that Dexter is developing dangerous violent urges and first tries to manage them. He eventually creates a set of rules known as the Code of Harry, teaching Dexter to target murderers who have escaped justice while avoiding detection. This code becomes the moral framework Dexter claims to follow throughout the series.
Harry dies before the main events of the series, but continues to appear as a hallucinated or imagined guide in Dexter's mind. The character is played by James Remar in Dexter and by Christian Slater in the prequel Dexter: Original Sin. Arthur Mitchell is the Trinity Killer, while Frank Morgan and Joe Morgan are not Dexter's adoptive father.
