What is the name of C.S. Lewis’s seven-book fantasy series about Narnia?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis’s seven-book fantasy series about Narnia is The Chronicles of Narnia.

The series was published between 1950 and 1956 and consists of seven novels: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Prince Caspian; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; The Silver Chair; The Horse and His Boy; The Magician’s Nephew; and The Last Battle.

The books combine talking animals, mythical creatures, children from Earth, and a parallel world called Narnia. Aslan, a powerful lion, is the central figure across the series. The stories draw on Christian themes as well as classical mythology, British folklore, fairy tales, and Lewis’s interest in medieval literature.

Publication order and internal chronological order differ. The Magician’s Nephew describes events at the beginning of Narnian history, but it was published sixth. Some editions number it first for reading order, which can cause confusion. The series title itself remains The Chronicles of Narnia in either arrangement.
