Narnia is the fictional land entered through a wardrobe in C.S. Lewis’s story.
In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Lucy Pevensie discovers a passage from a wardrobe into a snowy woodland in Narnia. The land is inhabited by talking animals, mythical creatures, and human characters, and it is ruled by the great lion Aslan.
The wardrobe is located in the country house of Professor Kirke, where the Pevensie children stay during the Second World War. Lucy’s discovery eventually draws her siblings Peter, Susan, and Edmund into Narnia’s conflict with the White Witch.
Narnia is also the name commonly used for the wider fictional setting of Lewis’s seven-book Chronicles of Narnia series. It should not be confused with Middle-earth, J.R.R. Tolkien’s separate fictional world.
