What is the name of C.S. Lewis's best-known children's fantasy series?

C.S. Lewis's best-known children's fantasy series is The Chronicles of Narnia. The seven-book sequence begins with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and centers on the magical land of Narnia.

The books were published between 1950 and 1956. They combine talking animals, legendary creatures, adventure, and Christian symbolism, although Lewis described the stories primarily as imaginative fiction rather than as direct allegories.

Publication order and internal chronological order are often discussed by readers. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was the first Narnia book published, while The Magician’s Nephew is set earliest in the fictional history. Together, the books have become some of the most widely read works of children’s literature.
