Beyoncé’s character in Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King is Nala.
Nala is a lioness who grows up alongside Simba and later becomes his partner in restoring the Pride Lands. Beyoncé provided the character’s speaking voice and singing voice in the film.
The 2019 movie is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated film. Jon Favreau directed it, and the voice cast also included Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar.
Beyoncé also contributed the original song “Spirit” to the film’s soundtrack. The character should not be confused with Sarabi, Simba’s mother, or Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter in later Lion King stories.
