What is the name of Audi's first serial production electric car?

Audi’s first serial-production electric car was the Audi e-tron.

The battery-electric SUV was unveiled in San Francisco on 17 September 2018 and entered production at Audi Brussels later that year. It was Audi’s first mass-produced battery-electric vehicle, rather than merely a development concept or a very small-run experiment.

Audi had explored electric propulsion earlier. The R8 e-tron, introduced in limited numbers in 2015, was an electric version of the R8, but fewer than 100 were produced. That makes it an easy mix-up, yet it was not Audi’s first mass-production electric model.

The e-tron used two electric motors and quattro all-wheel drive, with the launch 55 quattro combining a 95-kWh battery and 300 kW of system output. In 2022, Audi renamed the updated model the Q8 e-tron, so references may use either name for the same vehicle lineage.
