The ring forged by Sauron in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth is commonly called the One Ring.
Sauron created the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom during the Second Age. He invested much of his power in it so that he could dominate the other Rings of Power and the rulers who possessed them. Its central inscription is written in the Black Speech of Mordor.
The Ring’s history includes several major bearers. Isildur cut it from Sauron’s hand, Déagol found it much later, and Sméagol took it from him. Bilbo Baggins eventually possessed it before giving it to Frodo. The Ring is destroyed when Gollum falls into the fires of Mount Doom with it.
