What is the length of Daytona International Speedway's oval?

The oval at Daytona International Speedway is 2.5 miles long.

Located in Daytona Beach, Florida, the speedway opened in 1959 as a high-banked tri-oval built to replace racing on the beach-and-road course. Its four-turn NASCAR layout measures 2.5 miles, or about 4.023 kilometers, and includes steeply banked turns and a distinctive tri-oval frontstretch.

That distance is the basis for the Daytona 500’s name: the race traditionally covers 200 laps, producing 500 miles. The track’s standard oval should not be confused with its other configurations. Daytona also has a 3.56-mile sports-car road course and motorcycle layouts of different lengths.

Daytona is one of NASCAR’s best-known superspeedways, alongside Talladega. Its long straights, high banking and aerodynamic pack racing make drafting especially important, allowing cars to run close together at very high speeds.
