What is the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world, located in Venezuela?

The story behind the answer

Angel Falls is the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall, plunging from Auyán-tepui in Venezuela's Canaima National Park.

The falls have a total height of 979 meters, including an uninterrupted main drop of about 807 meters. Water descends from the edge of the tabletop mountain before continuing through cascades and rapids toward the Churún River, part of the Orinoco basin.

The waterfall was known to the Indigenous Pemón people long before outsiders documented it. American aviator Jimmie Angel flew over it in 1933 while searching for gold-bearing territory. In 1937, his attempt to land on Auyán-tepui ended with a crash, and Angel and his companions spent 11 days walking off the mountain. The falls were later named in his honor.

Niagara and Iguazu are much wider and more powerful, but not nearly as tall. Tugela Falls is sometimes claimed to be higher overall, depending on measurement methods, but Angel Falls remains the standard answer for the highest uninterrupted drop.
