The Colour and the Shape
Answer
The Colour and the Shape
The Foo Fighters’ second studio album is The Colour and the Shape.
Released in 1997, it followed the band’s self-titled 1995 debut, which Dave Grohl had largely recorded himself. The second album marked a major step toward the full-band sound that made Foo Fighters an arena-rock staple. It was recorded with guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel, and drummer William Goldsmith, although the recording process became difficult and Goldsmith later left the group.
The album produced several of the band’s best-known songs, including “Everlong,” “My Hero,” “Monkey Wrench,” and “Walking After You.” Its title is often written with the British spelling “Colour,” matching the official album title.
A common mix-up is confusing it with There Is Nothing Left to Lose, the band’s third studio album, released in 1999. One by One followed in 2002, while In Your Honor arrived in 2005.
