What is the first weapon you use in "Cuphead"?

The first weapon you use in Cuphead is the Peashooter. It is the game’s standard starting weapon, provided to Cuphead and Mugman before they begin taking on the bosses and run-and-gun stages of the Inkwell Isles.

The Peashooter fires fast, light-blue projectiles in a straight line. It has long range, unlimited ammunition, and balanced damage, making it a reliable weapon while players learn the game’s movement, aiming, jumping, and parrying systems.

Players can later buy alternate weapons with coins, including Spread, Chaser, Lobber, Charge, and Roundabout. These are designed as sidegrades rather than simple upgrades: each offers a different combination of range, damage, spread, speed, or aiming behavior. The Peashooter therefore remains useful even after new weapons become available.

Its enhanced EX attack is called Mega Blast. It consumes one card from the Super Meter and launches a larger projectile capable of hitting a target multiple times. The airplane stages use separate weapons, so the Peashooter is specifically the first weapon for Cuphead’s regular on-foot gameplay.
