The protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Origins is Bayek of Siwa.
Bayek is a Medjay, a protector and lawkeeper from the Siwa Oasis in ancient Egypt. The story follows his investigation into a conspiracy that threatens Egypt and his role in the origins of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later becomes the Assassin Brotherhood.
His wife, Aya, is also a major character and an important partner in the creation of the Hidden Ones. The game explores Ptolemaic Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra and the political conflict involving Julius Caesar.
Origins was released in 2017 and changed the series by introducing stronger role-playing systems, character levels, gear rarity, and a large Egyptian world. Bayek is sometimes confused with Aya because both are playable in limited sections, but Bayek is the primary protagonist and the character named in the game’s central title story.
