President Curtis’s first name is Andre, making him President Andre Curtis. For much of Rick and Morty, the character is simply called “the President,” so his first name is easy to miss when recalling earlier episodes.
The President is voiced by Keith David and serves as a recurring political and comic foil for Rick. He calls on Rick and Morty during major threats, including the Cromulons’ demand for a planetary musical performance, but his relationship with Rick quickly becomes competitive and hostile. Their arguments often turn government cooperation into a personal battle of egos.
The character was initially presented as a broad fictional U.S. president rather than as a fully detailed individual. Later appearances supplied more identifying information, including the surname Curtis and eventually the first name Andre. That development explains why some older references or viewers may still describe him only as “the President.”
Andre Curtis is also distinct from alternate-universe versions and from real-world presidents who may have inspired elements of his design or characterization. In the show’s canon, however, the named character’s first name is Andre.
