What is the fictional Italian town visited in Pixar's Cars 2?

The story behind the answer

Porto Corsa is the fictional Italian town visited in Pixar's Cars 2.

It hosts one of the World Grand Prix races and is depicted as a glamorous coastal location with steep streets, harbor views, and Mediterranean architecture. The setting provides a dramatic contrast to the American desert landscapes associated with Radiator Springs.

The World Grand Prix also takes the characters to Tokyo and London. These international locations support the movie's globe-spanning spy plot, in which Lightning McQueen competes while Mater becomes entangled with Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell.

Porto Corsa is an invented name, but its visual design draws on real Italian coastal towns. It should not be confused with Portorosso, the fictional Italian town featured in Pixar's 2021 film Luca. That similarly styled name belongs to a different Pixar story.
