What is the fictional city where V for Vendetta is primarily set?

The story behind the answer

V for Vendetta is primarily set in London.

Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s dystopian graphic novel depicts a future United Kingdom ruled by a totalitarian government called Norsefire. The story follows the masked revolutionary V and Evey Hammond as they challenge the regime’s surveillance, censorship, and political repression.

The setting is a near-future version of London rather than a wholly invented city. Familiar landmarks and streets give the narrative a recognizable British geography, while the fictional political system creates its dystopian atmosphere. V’s campaign famously includes plans involving major symbolic buildings.

The story was originally serialized in the British anthology Warrior beginning in 1982. DC Comics later published the completed work in collected form. The 2005 film adaptation uses the same London setting and broad premise but changes or compresses several elements of the graphic novel.
