The engine code of the Lexus LFA’s V10 is 1LR-GUE. This 4.8-liter engine was developed by Toyota in partnership with Yamaha and became one of the defining engineering features of Lexus’s limited-production supercar.
The 1LR-GUE uses a 72-degree bank angle, dual variable valve timing, dry-sump lubrication, and ten individual throttle bodies. Its construction incorporates aluminum, magnesium, and titanium components, helping the engine remain compact and light despite its ten cylinders.
The engine produces 412 kW, or about 560 PS, at 8,700 rpm and redlines at 9,000 rpm. Its unusually rapid response was one reason the LFA used a digital tachometer. The code is often confused with Toyota’s famous 2JZ-GTE inline-six or the 1UZ-FE V8, neither of which powered the LFA.
